From Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children®
Training for Adults to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse

Picture
The Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center reaches local schoolchildren, teachers, parents and community members each year through child abuse education and awareness. Now, a special training developed by the nonprofit Darkness to Light is available for parents and other community members who are looking for ways to protect their children.

Stewards of Children® is an adult-focused child sexual abuse prevention training program that features real people and real stories about protecting children from sexual abuse. The training aims to educate adults (specifically child care professionals) to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly. Child sexual abuse is likely the most prevalent health problem children face, with the most serious array of consequences. In fact, 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. This means that whether you work with youth, are a parent, or are simply a member of a community, it is highly likely that someone you know or care for has experienced, or is currently experiencing, child sexual abuse. It’s going to happen whether you are prepared to deal with it or not – unless you stop it from happening. And the good news is that it can be stopped.

Join us and fellow community members and parents on our next training date to learn what you can do to keep children in your community safe. For more information or to learn how to schedule a training in your area, please call Tawana Williams, awareness advocate, at 870-403-6879.
